Plant Capabilities
SCI maintains one of the largest, most versatile and modern manufacturing facilities in Australia and is recognised as the leader in its field. This facility is located at Teralba near Newcastle in NSW and boasts a vast array of manufacturing facilities which can be adapted to meet the needs of our clients. The facility at Teralba has the capacity to manufacture in excess of 60,000 tonnes of precast product per year.

SCI’s talented R&D team through consultation brings together academia and industry to develop materials and processes that will ensure the longevity of its precast concrete contribution to infrastructure.
Current Projects
By working through its NATA accredited laboratory and in collaboration with the Concrete Institute of Australia, key specifiers like Transport for New south Wales, and several Australian universities, new and improved materials and processes have been developed that have led to reductions in key material usage as well as carbon emissions reduction in the production of prestressed concrete.
In the field of corrosion protection, work is being undertaken to determine a satisfactory method for the application of full cathodic protection to precast, pretensioned prestressed concrete.
