Research Contributions

Overview

The nature of the major infrastructure sector serviced by SCI dictates that the manufactured product supplied to this sector will be in service for generations to come.

SCI’s talented R&D team through consultation brings together academia and industry to develop materials and processes that will ensure the longevity of its precast concrete contribution to infrastructure.

Current Projects

By working through its NATA accredited laboratory and in collaboration with the Concrete Institute of Australia, key specifiers like Transport for New South Wales, and several Australian universities, new and improved materials and processes have been developed that have led to reductions in key material usage as well as carbon emissions reduction in the production of prestressed concrete.

In the field of corrosion protection, work is being undertaken to determine a satisfactory method for the application of full cathodic protection to precast, pretensioned prestressed concrete.
